Recommendations for appointment are sent to the Garfield County Board of County Commissioners for review and approval on an as‐needed basis.
Mill levy and total tax revenues
The Garfield County Public Library District collects 1 mill of property tax annually through 2027 as well as one-quarter cent of the County sales tax and 1.5 mill of property tax in perpetuity. In 2011, a state sales tax refund was levied against sales tax revenues for Garfield County and GCPLD lost over $1.2 million in sales tax revenues over a two year period. This amount was partially backfilled by Garfield County with a grant of $487,500. Board meeting information
The Garfield County Public Library District Board of Directors meets on the first Thursday of the month at 2:00 p.m. The meetings rotate between the six branch libraries and the Administrative offices. The agenda and meeting announcements are posted on our website at gcpld.org/about-us/board-of-trustees as well as on the bulletin boards at all six library locations one week in advance of the meetings.
