Adults who wish to explore, observe, and creatively document nature are invited to join a group of novice and experienced sketch book writers and artists. Some sessions will have an instructor (Romana Davies) who will explore different topics, techniques, and mediums. If the instructor is not available at a meeting we will have an assignment, encouragement and tips from peers, and drawing time in a supportive environment. Bring your own supplies.

Join your GCPLD libraries and enjoy a unique concert experience featuring Sean Gaskell and the African Kora harp. Sean Gaskell features songs on the kora- a 21 stringed West African harp. He studied under the extensiveinstruction of Moriba Kuyateh and the late Malamini Jobarteh in Gambia, and also Youssoupha Cissokho and Mamadou Cissokho in Senegal. The kora is traditionally played by oral historians known as Griots. Many songs featured on the kora preserve an 800 year history dating back to the founding of the Mande empire. Gaskell has presented adult, youth and family programs at over 400 libraries and a multitude of k-12 schools, colleges, universities and assisted living facilities throughout the United States and Canada.
This drop-in style class meets in-person weekly with the support of volunteer tutors to offer informal English conversation practice opportunities. Therapy dogs from Heeling Partners of the Roaring Fork Valley will be at the library to listen, encourage, and enhance each young reader’s experience. There will be 15-minute time slots for readers (1st-5th grade), and advance registration is required. Perfect for 8th-10th grade and any experience level. This course is led by Baker Casagrande, an educator for the Aspen Science Center who studied Computational Physics at Colorado College.
