About the Carbondale Branch Library

Located just a few blocks from Carbondale’s Main Street, the Carbondale Branch Library is a busy, vibrant branch of the Garfield County libraries. It reflects the town’s interest in art, with several original works of art incorporated into the building’s design.

Visitors can enjoy a stunning view of the iconic Mount Sopris through the library’s large wall of windows or from one of many colorful Adirondack chairs on the outdoor patio. In colder months, patrons can warm themselves by the fireplace, designed by artist John Hoffman and dedicated to former Library Board Member, the late Lanny Kroh.

The library’s spacious Community Room can be reserved by the public and fits up to 80 people. It features a kitchen, Yamaha Grand Piano, and an A/V system that includes a projector, sound system, and DVD player. Patrons can also reserve one of four study rooms for meetings or as a quiet workspace.

In addition to a large collection of popular materials, the library provides access to computers, a printer, scanner, copier, and fax machine. Wifi is available inside the building and can be accessed 24/7 on the patio. Books of local significance are housed in the branch’s extensive “Colorado Collection,” featuring hundreds of historical and scientific volumes, outdoor guides, maps, and more.

With its beautiful, open interior, large collection, and friendly staff, the Carbondale Branch Library is a gem of the Carbondale community.
