The Garfield County Public Library Foundation was formed as a 501(c)(3) in 1997 to “promote and foster the provision of public library services to residents and citizens of Garfield County, Colorado, and to provide financial support for the Garfield County Public Library.” (from the Articles of Incorporation of Garfield County Public Library Foundation, Inc.)
The Foundation supports the Library District financially through grants and donations, but the Foundation also supports the Library District’s mission to connect our communities to a world of possibilities. Community Outreach programs support our community members through life-long learning.
The Foundation also works as an advocate for the libraries. The American Library Association has some great resources and information online if you are interested in advocating for your library.
New members are always welcome; if you want to make a difference for your library and your community, please join us! Learn more about planned giving and memorial or tribute Gifts.
The Garfield County Libraries Foundation is happy to accept gifts in memory of friends and family who have passed as well as gifts of tribute for a birthday, anniversary or special occasion. There are naming opportunities in all six of our library branches. If you are interested in Memorials or Tributes, please contact foundation@gcpld.org.
The Garfield County Libraries Foundation can act as a beneficiary in life insurance policies and can receive bequests from wills and trusts. You may make a bequest of cash, stocks and bonds, real estate, personal property, and/or a percentage of your estate.
The Garfield County Libraries Foundation frequently partners with other community members, businesses and organizations. Being a library sponsor comes with many perks: over 650,000 library visitors per year will see your logo, you will be able use marketing dollars in a new way, and communicate your business values.
The Foundation partners with Better World Books and City Market to support your libraries!
If you shop at City Market, sign up to support the library through City Market Community Rewards (formerly City Market Cares) and they will make a donation based on how much you use your Value Card. City Market does not share information about your purchases and participating in this program will not affect your normal Value Card discounts.
Once you log in, you will need to connect the library to your Value Card. You can search for the organization’s name: Garfield Cty Public Library Foundation, or the organization’s number: 10140.
